Kalachakra  Dates

Kalachakra 2017 dates has not been announced officially. Kalachakra 2016 has been postponed for 2017. Once the actual dates for Kalachakra Announced , it will be published here.The 34th Kalachakra Initiations (wheel of time) has been postponed by a year, the Central Tibetan Administration’s Kashag announced here today.Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, accompanied by Department of Religion and Culture Kalon Pema Chhinjor and Department of Security Kalon Ngodup Dongchung, told reporters that the 80 year old Tibetan leader’s hectic itinerary these past few months with his participation in the 80th birthday celebrations and long-life prayer ceremonies around the world and the upcoming eventful calendar as the prime reasons for this decision. 

Sangay said the Kalachakra 2016 was simply an overwhelming schedule. “The preparation for next year’s Kalachakra requires longer time than other rituals to be performed by His Holiness, which are highly strenuous.
“The Central Tibetan Administration has requested His Holiness to reduce his schedule to which he has kindly agreed.”
The statement also elaborated on the Tibetan people’s wish to dial down on the demanding schedule of the Dalai Lama. The second special general meeting of the Tibetan people and the meeting of Head of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism and Bon tradition during the 80th birthday celebrations have led to the request to His Holiness seeking his acceptance to make his programs less exhaustive. There have been similar requests from concerned people including Tibetans inside Tibet, the statement said.
The earlier schedule for the 34th Kalachakra slated for 14 -25 January 2016 is nullified and new dates for the 2017 will be announced later. .
The Kalachakra initiations are considered the epitome of all Buddhist teaching by Buddhists the world over and are attended by devotees in exile as well as Tibetans and this extension of the dates is likely to hamper travel plans made by devotees, especially those from inside Tibet.
The Tibetan leader has given 33 Kalachakra initiations so far since 1954, the year he gave it the first time at Norbulingka, Tibet. The last one was held in Ladakh
