Provisions:

  • Insurance: SASB provides accidental death insurance to registered pilgrims.

Amarnath Pilgrimage Gate Timings

Important Do’s:

  • Collect your RFID card: Mandatory before starting the Pilgrimage. Carry Aadhaar details for collection.
  • Wear your RFID tag: For safety and security, wear it around your neck throughout the Pilgrimage.
  • Prepare physically: Train by walking 4-5 km daily at least a month before the Pilgrimage. Practice deep breathing and yoga for better oxygen efficiency.
  • Pack essential gear:
    • Adequate woolen clothing
    • Small rainproof umbrella
    • Windcheater and raincoat
    • Waterproof trekking shoes
    • Torch and walking stick
    • Cap, gloves, jacket, woolen socks, and waterproof trousers
  • Dress appropriately: For ladies, salwar kameez, pantshirt, or tracksuits are suitable. Sarees are not recommended. Pregnant women above 6 weeks are not allowed.
  • Age restrictions: Children below 13 and elderly above 70 are not permitted.
  • Keep luggage close: Porters, horses, or ponies carrying your luggage should travel just ahead or behind you for easy access.
  • Waterproof your belongings: From Pahalgam/Baltal onwards, use a waterproof bag for spare clothes and eatables.
  • Stay hydrated and energized: Carry a water bottle, dry fruits, roasted grams, toffees, chocolates, etc.
  • Protect yourself: Apply cold cream/Vaseline/sunscreen to protect your skin.
  • Travel in a group: Stay with your group and keep them in sight.
  • Emergency information: Carry a note with the name, address, and mobile number of a travel companion. Also carry your Pilgrimage Permit and ID card.
  • Leave together: Return from Base Camp with your entire group. Report missing members to the Police and announce it on the Pilgrimage Camp’s Public Address System.
  • Respect the environment: Lord Shiva embodies the elements. Treat the Base Camp and Pilgrimage routes with respect and avoid pollution.
  • Dispose of waste properly: Use designated dustbins for waste and organic materials.
  • Use lavatories: Avoid littering and use provided lavatories/urinals.

Important Don’ts:

  • No Pilgrimage without RFID card: It’s mandatory to wear your RFID card throughout the journey.
  • Avoid marked areas: Don’t stop at places marked with warning notices.
  • No slippers: Wear proper trekking shoes with laces for safety on the steep terrain.
  • No shortcuts: Stick to the designated route and avoid dangerous shortcuts.
  • Protect the environment: Don’t pollute the Pilgrimage area. Plastic usage is strictly prohibited.
  • Follow instructions: Strictly adhere to Pilgrimage administration guidelines.
